Biography
Thomas Klotz was born in 1977 in Seclin, in the north of France. He lives and works in Paris.
Forever fascinated by American colourists, he garnered attention in 2019 with his first book, Northscape, devoted to the muted suburban landscapes of the North of France. He turns his attention to the everyday, the trivial, which take on an intriguing and singular thickness under his gaze.
His second work, Ève, la montagne et la jeune fille, reads like a tale on the fragility and anxieties of his daughter, faced with the struggle of growing up. This series was exhibited at the Nathalie Obadia Gallery in February 2021, under the title "I’ll never be young again".
Having trained as a lawyer, it is another part of his universe which he tackles from 2021 onwards with Justice, through photography he explores the different notions which lie behind the term “justice”: the legal case, ceremony, reparation, reclusion…
