“Each portrait tells a story” the tone is set by the foreword of this book, the result of six years of work on the subject.
Baudoin, a renowned portrait photographer, had to go through many doors before coming to this final selection. From Sonia, a student posing as Napoleon in her classical interior, to Vyva a woman of another generation posing in a fitted garment on a tiger's head, Baudoin reveals in these square frame 75 women representatives of the modern Parisian Woman. Each portraits which trigger in the viewer scrutiny, comment, analyses and exclamation. And at times the pose echoes the eccentricity of the photographer. For Baudouin, the Parisian woman is not a still-life figure but is alive, expressive and ageless. Finally it is the linkage of all these visions which makes this book a unique.
